Assistant

Ask about the active design, investigate a result, or request a change.

Open a project chat

  1. Open the right-side panel and select Assistant.
  2. Start a new chat or open an existing chat for this project.
  3. Ask about the active design in the Message OhmSpice field, then send the message.

Assistant chats are private to your account and attached to the project. Sharing a project with another person does not give that person access to your Assistant transcript.

During OhmSpice Beta, Assistant access is available on request. Email[email protected] to request access.

Assistant data

When you send a message, OhmSpice sends it, relevant chat history, and information from the active project, script, or model to OpenAI. OpenAI handles that material under its terms and the settings OhmSpice uses for OpenAI.

OhmSpice saves the messages you see, summaries of completed changes, and request results in your project chat. Other project members cannot access your chats. Use Delete in the chat list to remove a chat and its transcript immediately. Deleting a cloud project starts its 30-day recovery period; associated chat data is removed when the project is permanently deleted. Account deletion removes owned project data and associated chats. The account export currently includes projects and My Library Parts, not Assistant transcripts.

Choose a permission mode

The permission menu defaults to Read only.

LabelWhat Assistant can do
Read onlyInspect the design. No edits or simulations.
Allow editsEdit the design and run simulations. Each edit creates one undo step.

Choose the permission mode before sending a request. Review applied changes in the editor and use Undo when you want to revert them.

What Assistant can work on

In Read only, Assistant can inspect the active project and its analyses, plots, measurements, model choices, and available library or catalog information. With Allow edits, it can change component values that pass validation, analysis definitions, plots, measurements, and existing script or custom-SPICE source. It can also run simulations to test a proposed change and explain the resulting evidence.

Limits

  • Place, move, connect, and remove schematic components and wires yourself.
  • Edit Part symbols, pins, and vendor models in the Part editor.
  • Deleting analyses, plots, or measurements, and changing Part parameters, requires a confirmation in the editor.
